The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between CIDAMI and Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) was held on December 19, 2016 at Waterfront Insular Hotel, Lanang, Davao City.
SPAMAST commit to provide technical staff to conduct research related to cacao production, genetic improvement, and pest management. SPAMAST is also expected to share information related to research works to CIDAMI and assist CIDAMI in developing project proposal for resource generation. Part of the obligations of SPAMAST is to include cacao production in their BS Agriculture and BS Agroforestry courses.
CIDAMI commit to establish cacao farm to be utilized as research area on genetic improvement and pest management and assist SPAMAST in the conduct of research and breeding of new cacao clones. CIDAMI also commits to develop pool of cacao technicians and experts that will provide extension service to farmers and prepare and develop project proposals for possible funding from government and international NGOs.
Aside from SPAMAST, CIDAMI is about to forge partnership with Central Mindanao State University (CMU), Lake Apo Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Growers (LASANG) Association in Valencia, Bukidnon, and DTI Region X through an MOU focused on research and community extension.
The signing of MOU between CIDAMI, Central Mindanao University (CMU), LASANG Association, and DTI Region X will be conducted in January 17, 2016.
